About Adrienne

My name is Adrienne Johnson and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #6913) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #5534) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I received my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and later completed further post graduate training in trauma, addictions, grief, healthy relationships, and positive parenting. I have worked for over 12 years as a registered clinical counsellor, and even longer in a variety of helping roles, including as a domestic violence support worker, and spiritual director.

I approach my work with warmth, inclusion and open-mindedness. I believe that each person is the expert in their own life, and that my job as a counsellor is to facilitate each person’s exploration of their own unique skills and strengths. I use a holistic approach, and draw on a variety of theoretical approaches and techniques, tailoring my work to each person’s individual needs to help them create positive and lasting change.

I am able to further tailor my work to those who would like to incorporate spiritual issues into their counselling; I have a Master of Divinity from Vancouver School of Theology, and have also completed a Graduate Diploma in Spiritual Direction.

Outside of my work, I am passionate about spending time with my friends and family, and especially with my husband and two young girls. We enjoy going on regular adventures throughout the lower mainland, and are especially drawn to time by the ocean. When I have a free moment for myself it’s usually spent on a walk or reading a good book. As a counsellor, I try to live what I teach, such as making room for my own self-care, and seeking help when I need it. I believe strongly that we all are able to make the best of the life that has been given us, sometimes we just need a little help.
